The birdsong kids (and our friends) are really all over the map this weekend!!
TONIGHT forever our girl Jess Paps is singing some tunes with Sweet Tooth Nelson on a rooftop in Greenpoint for the GOOD LUCK BAD LUCK ROOFTOP BALL. Also playing is Hunter, who played our benefit show last month (plus Peels and Jive Grave, a couple bands who we’ve got playing on repeat at the Birdsong HQ). TOMORROW zine-friend K48 is launching it’s new issue “ABRAK48DABRA” with live music and DJs. Mirror Mirror, former interviewees of ours, will be playing a set. Then SUNDAY, oh Sunday. First it’s the closing party for (birdsong interviewee) J. Morrison‘s show My Spring Fling Turned Into My Summer Dream, with readings by Todd Shalom and birdsong founder/editor-in-chief Tommy Pico in Greenpoint. Then across the pond is MUNCH IT! a reading curated by birdsong interviewee Gerry Visco and featuring the likes of birdsong-er Max Steele, Joseph Keckler, and Slava Mogutin.

Spring Fling Turned Into My Summer Dream CLOSING PARTY
This show is a continuation of Morrison’s curated show from 2010, “A Midsummer Night’s Wet Dream” held at SPACE IS THE PLACE. Playing off the dualities of the seasons (Sexy Spring to Summer Fuck), the exhibition will present pairs of objects that go together. Each artist was asked for two artworks that were not necessarily created as a couplet, but formed a statement when placed in juxtaposition.

MUNCH IT!
MUNCH It on a Sunday! No, not a crappy lame ass brunch with 3 or 4 sloppy Bloody Marys. Blow your mind with a mind-blowing cast of writers, all in one room for a MINDF*CK you’ll NEVER ever forget. Fasten your seatbelts, wear protection, be prepared to have your DNA permanently… altered — for the better!
Free booze and Perrier (sponsored by Societe Perrier). Kick ass writers, fun people, and Art with a capital A.
The motivation is selfish: “I Check You,” a two women show is on display at the fabulous new Munch Gallery on Broome Street until May 22nd — the show opened on April 21 — if you missed it, here’s your big chance! Featured are a selection of Gerry Visco’s photographs, the Visco Disco installation, and the fantastic paintings of Finnish painter Rauha Mäkilä. Also on hand: owner Lily Munch.
The writers at Munch It! will be reading prose and poetry that will invade your mind and change your life. Do something different on a Sunday: listen to these motherf*ckers read, then go buy a book!! And yes, check out I CHECK YOU for some serious eye candy.
